The idea

A party game that feels made in Albanian rather than translated into it — for a group around a table, a coffee or a long car ride. The words are ones Albanians actually use, and the whole thing works with no internet and no account: one phone is enough.

It is for Albanians wherever they live, in Albania, Kosovo, North Macedonia, Montenegro and the diaspora. The menus are in Albanian or English, switched with one tap, while the game itself is Albanian.

What’s in it

  • Spiuni (the spy): everyone sees the same secret word except one spy. You talk around it, try not to give the word away, and vote for who the spy is — with categories, one or more spies, a timer, and an optional “a similar word” twist for the spy.
  • Pass one phone around, offline, or play online: each on their own phone, or a few people sharing one. The host picks who sits on which phone and shares the room — by code, by an invitation link, or by a QR others scan.
  • When players are on different phones, the question round happens in the app as typed questions and answers; a dropped player is announced and can rejoin, and a room can play again with running totals.
  • Reserved channels: keep a room name for good — the same group, players and totals — up to three per phone.
  • The small things: optional emoji avatars, a local history of finished games, and a light or dark theme.

How it’s built

  • The app is native Android, in Kotlin with Jetpack Compose. The game runs entirely on the phone, so the core needs no network and no account.
  • The word bank is Albanian, written for the game.
  • Online rooms are optional and run on Supabase in the EU: each phone signs in anonymously, Postgres row-level security keeps every phone to its own data, and the live game runs over Realtime channels. Without a Supabase project the app simply hides the online buttons.
  • Joining is easy: invitation links are Android App Links (dashcode.agency/spiuni/join/<code>) that open straight in the app when it is installed and fall back to a web page when it isn’t, and the room’s QR is read by Google’s on-device code scanner.

Where it stands

The app is built and being prepared for its release on Google Play.

Privacy

Read the privacy policy of the app — also in Albanian. It explains what the game keeps on the phone, what an online room sends to the server and when it is deleted.
